Curriculum

The teaching of Religious Education at Peel Park Primary School enables pupils to develop a broad and balanced understanding of religions and worldviews. It broadens their perspectives of faiths and cultures and it promotes respect and open-mindedness towards others with different faiths and beliefs thus encouraging tolerance of diversity. It encourages pupils to develop their sense of identity and belonging through self-awareness and reflection and allow them to be positive citizens of the world. RE plays an important role in the development and nurturing of their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development as well as developing their understanding of British Values. The children discuss challenging questions about meaning and purpose in life, beliefs about God, ultimate reality, issues of right and wrong and what it means to be human.  A holistic approach to Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development (SMSC), British Values, and Community Cohesion focuses on preparing pupils for life in the 21st century. The principle aim of RE is to engage all pupils including those with SEND needs with in an enquiry approach where they can develop an understanding and appreciation for the expression of beliefs, cultural practices and influence of principle religions and worldviews in the local, national and wider global community.
