The national curriculum for English reflects the importance of spoken language in pupils’ development across the whole curriculum – cognitively, socially and linguistically. Spoken language underpins the development of reading and writing. The quality and variety of language that pupils hear and speak are vital for developing their vocabulary and grammar and their understanding for reading and writing.
At Peel Park Oracy underpins all of the Curriculum. As a school, we recognise the vital role that Oracy has in allowing our children to fully reach their potential in later life. Peel Park wants its pupils to use their voice: to debate with confidence, to listen attentively and build on others ideas; to aid those children who can struggle emotionally or socially. At Peel Park we want our children’s’ voices to be heard.
