At Peel Park Primary School and Nursery, we intend to build a DT Curriculum which is practical, motivating and innovative which is relevant in our rapidly changing world. We want to children encourage our children to become problem solvers which allows them to exercise their creativity through designing and making. Through the DT curriculum, children should be inspired by engineers, designers, chefs and architects to enable them to create a range of textiles, structures, mechanisms, food products and electrical systems. We aim to create strong cross curricular links with other subjects. Also, skills are taught progressively which ensures that children are able to learn and practice in order to develop as their move throughout school. We intend for all children to acquire appropriate subject knowledge and understanding as set out in the National Curriculum. We want to prepare our children, to give them opportunities, responsibilities and experiences they need to be successful in later life.
