Half Term
Reminder that we have now finished for the half term holiday and school will be closed to everyone next week. School will re-open at the usual, staggered times on Monday 2nd November 2020.

If any children develop any symptoms of Covid19 over the holiday, please ensure you get them tested. If they receive a positive test result, please let us know by texting the following number with the child's full name, date of birth, class and the date they began to feel unwell: 07792402654.

We hope you all have a lovely break and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday 2nd November.
Upcoming Parent Courses
Due to the pandemic, all our parent classes will be delivered online by the same tutor that came to Peel Park Primary to deliver the courses previously. We would like to encourage all our parents/carers to continue their learning at home on a digital device and we have a new course to help you with this called, The Digital Access Workshop. We also have a number of other courses available to enrol on. For further information, please visit our Parental Involvement page on our school website. For further information, please speak to our Parental Involvement Worker, Mrs Awan. She can be contacted on the school phone number or by email on sawan@peelpark.bradford.sch.uk.
Dangerous Parking
It has been brought to my attention that we have a small number of parents/carers who are parking dangerously around our school site when dropping off and collecting their children.

This has meant that children and parents have to walk into the road as the footpath is completely obstructed. This is unacceptable and makes it extremely dangerous for everyone.

Please be mindful when you are parking your vehicle and check that the footpath can still be used (wide enough to fit a wheelchair and double pram) and that an emergency vehicle can drive past, at speed, in the event of an emergency.

In future, we will notify the police if we continue to witness dangerous parking like this.
Half Term Holiday Fun
This half term, why not visit Peel Park or Lister Park and go on a Halloween Dance Trail? Seek out zombies, skeletons, witches and mummies using your smartphone, and learn a little about the park on your way!

Download the Love Exploring app from the Google Play store or Apple store: https://loveexploring.page.link/download

Parent Governor Vacancy
Wednesday, 7th October, 2020

Dear Parent/Carer

I am writing to invite you to stand for election as a parent governor, or nominate another parent to do so. In our school we have provision for two parent governor(s) and there is currently one vacancy.

The governing body, with the headteacher, has considerable responsibility for the school. Governing bodies have three core strategic functions:

• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
• Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
• Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

Any parent (or carer) with a child on register at the school, including the nursery, is eligible to become a parent governor. It is most important that parents are fully represented and I therefore ask that you give careful consideration to either putting your own name forward as a candidate or to nominating another parent as a candidate, if they are willing to be nominated.

No special qualifications are needed and the most important thing is to have a keen interest in the school and be prepared to play an active part in the governing body’s work. Training is available for all governors and this governing body has an expectation that those new to being a governor attend induction training.

The Declaration of Eligibility form summarises the circumstances under which someone cannot serve as a governor. In addition, parents/carers who have paid employment in the school for 500 or more hours per academic year or who are elected members of the Local Authority are not eligible to stand in these elections.

If you would like to stand for election please complete the enclosed nomination form and return it to the school no later than Monday 12th October 2020. Please either visit our main school office for a paper copy and return to the main school office, or, complete electronically and email to mworger@peelpark.bradford.sch.uk. You may also include a short personal statement to support your nomination, which should be no longer than 250 words. Self-nominations will be accepted, but if you are nominating another parent, please seek their prior consent.

Once you have completed and returned the nomination form, each nomination will receive a phone call from our Chair of Governors, Mrs Raj Unsworth to discuss being a Governor at Peel Park Primary.

If we receive more than one nomination, a ballot will be held so that all parents can choose who will represent them on the governing body.

If there are more nominations than vacancies the election will be by secret ballot. If that is necessary, voting papers will be sent to all parents together with details of the ballot procedure.

All required forms have been sent to you by email. They can also be accessed via our school website by clicking on the 'About Us' and 'Meet Our Governors' tabs. Alternatively, documents can be provided in paper form if you speak to our main school office.

If you have any further questions or would like to speak to our Chair of Governors about being a school governor before submitting a nomination, please email mworger@peelpark.bradford.sch.uk and we will arrange this.
