School Meals at Peel Park
There is now a great way to get all information you need about the meals at our school. the new school meals website lets you find out about the meals we serve in school in a quicker and more convenient way.
You’ll be able to instantly discover what’s on the menu in school on any given day. There is also other easily accessible information, from the 'Scores on the Doors' of the kitchen through to information on any allergens, and the nutritional breakdown of the dishes we provide.
There will also be sustainability benefits in replacing the printed menu flyers with the website. We’re committed to doing our bit to help improve the environment, and the website stops the printing of over 90,000 flyers each year. This will reduce the carbon footprint by eliminating the paper usage, the chemicals and processes used in the printing process, and the delivery of these flyers across the district.
The Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme means that all pupils in Reception, Year One and Year Two are now provided with a FREE school meal. However, Parents are encouraged to apply for Free School Meals for their child - irrespective of whether the child has a school meal or a sandwich lunch.

School meals are free for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 - so why do I still need to apply?
For every pupil entitled to a free school meal, the school receives additional funding called the Pupil Premium. This additional funding is extremely vital and is given to schools so that they can support and close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 get free school meals, but if you receive one of the benefits from the list above you may also get help with:
- the cost of residential school trips and enrichment activities (speak to us about this)
- free milk (you must inform the office if your child would like milk)
- school uniform costs (speak to us about this)
- access to after school clubs
- priority access to tuition, our nurture programme or other support as needed
Children in Years Three to Six must pay for their meals. The cost of the meals is £2.30 per day. In November this will increase to £2.35.
We encourage parents to pay for school dinners online using Parent Pay. The school office can help you set up your account. Click here to go to the Parent Pay site.
Alternatively, if you wish your child/ren to bring a packed lunch from home, the children sit and eat their lunch in the hall together.
All children, whether having a school meal or packed lunch, are cared for by our Midday Supervisors.
Miss Katy McLean is our Kitchen Manager/Chef and is in charge of our school kitchen.
If you need to talk to the school kitchen about anything, especially payment of school dinners, then please call them directly on : 01274 642063.
PLEASE NOTE: If the payment of dinner monies is forgotten or is not paid for 5 consecutive school days then your child will be expected to bring a packed lunch from the 6th school day until the arrears are settled, or they will be provided with a basic sandwich and a piece of fruit.
